Repairing on the go!?
The Engineer becomes a mobile repair shop any time they enter a vehicle.
The only drawback to this is they cant automatically repair the
vehicle they are riding in.
Commander Assets:
Need repair just grab a HMMWV
drive on over to the destroyed asset and switch to the gunners
seat. Once in the gunners seat you can then scan for any
hostiles in the area while repairing the damaged UAV Trailer,
Artillery, or Radar. Keep in mind this works for any vehicle
including the HH-60H, which can become a superb flying repair
shop.
Helping the team and getting points:
This tactic is very useful not only for increasing your ranks but also in helping out fellow teammates. Form a squad or buddy up with another engineer (perhaps even a third person that is a medic or support). Find a FAV, since it is fast and agile, now go hunting for your teammate’s Armor and APCs. Repair and re-supply/heal but don’t stay to long since you will be a sitting duck.
With two people as engineers in an FAV you will be able to repair faster and provide some suppressive fire allowing you to get in and get the job done quickly. This tactic has the potential to yield a lot of points, since both engineers are getting repair points. The driver is also getting extra points for every skill point earned by the passengers (i.e. driver ability points).
Sneaky AT Mines
With Anti-tank mines at the engineers ready
disposal, one must think of ingenuous ways to plant them. Keep
in mind that the
mines are detonated whenever a vehicle crosses over them.
Sabotaging Enemy Vehicles:
Crawl up to
an enemy tank, APC, or other vehicle and place mines underneath
it. What this will do is set a booby trap for the unsuspecting
tango. When they go to drive off it will cause the tank or other
enemy vehicle to blow up and thus awarding you one frag. This
also works well as your own "car alarm". This can be useful for
when flags are in areas inaccessible by some of the larger
vehicles, just don't forget you put a mine under it.
Hiding mines in waterways:
A good place to
plant mines is in the shallow river crossings on many maps. Make
sure to stagger them so they cover the entire path, but leave
enough room for your teammates to navigate through them. This
tactic works extremely well on the Strike at Karkand 32 or 64 player
maps. Place AT mines on the lower river crossing into the MEC
main base, this should be good for a few frags.
